School facilities
Flaxmill School P-6 is set upon expansive, green grounds surrounded by gum trees.
All of our buildings have been recently built or recently upgraded. They offer fully airconditioned, bright and well maintained learning spaces. Our classrooms feature flexible learning spaces that allow for individual learning needs.
All of our classrooms feature calm spaces or corners, and the admin area has a calm room for children to access when they need a bit of time and space. Our classrooms feature breakout spaces that create a flexible and individual approach to learning styles and needs.
Nature and outdoor spaces
Our grounds are extensive and lush, filled with a range of play spaces and outdoor learning spaces. We have 2 large ovals, a junior primary playground, a primary playground and a nature play playground.
Many other spaces are designed with nature play principles in mind – allowing children to interact with the natural environment – logs, trees, boulders, shrubs, etc.
Specialist building spaces
In recognition of our First Nations people, we have a newly built Meeting Space – where groups gather to celebrate our culture.
We have a purpose built aquaponics shed where students learn about sustainability, biodiversity, breeding fish, and growing plants. Our buildings house an industrial kitchen, STEM workshop, robotics and 3D printing room, drama room, gymnasium and a welcoming library.
Our digital technology resources are extensive and continually upgraded.
Butterfly garden and vegetable garden
The Butterfly Garden, complete with an enormous mosaic caterpillar bench, is a beautiful, calm space where children can sit and read or engage in a lesson surrounded by a perfume garden.
We also have a school vegetable garden complete with propagating beds and a large interactive chicken coup.
