Aboriginal education

Our dedicated Aboriginal Education Team are committed to support our Aboriginal Community.

We have a dedicated Aboriginal Community Education Officer (ACEO)and Aboriginal Education Teacher to connect with families and community. We ensure that students have a strong sense of cultural identity and connection to culture. Students are supported in their learning through evidenced based programs and literacy and numeracy intervention.

Our ACEO works with teaching staff, students and families to embed Aboriginal culture, histories and knowledge. We celebrate culturally significant events and our Flaxmill Reconciliation Action Plan drives our whole school approach in strengthening relationships, respect and opportunities in the classroom, school and community.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge this land that we meet on today is the traditional lands for Kaurna people and that we respect their spiritual relationship with their country.

We also acknowledge the Kaurna people as the custodians of the Adelaide region and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living Kaurna people today.

We also pay respects to the cultural authority of Aboriginal people visiting/attending from other areas of South Australia/Australia present here.
